Bling It Out: Summer Camp T-shirt Fun

Summer Time – With Bling. Bringing some much-needed bling to plain summer camp t-shirts.

The kids are loving their summer camps. I have to admit, I am as well! We are new to the whole summer camp scene, this being the first year both kids were of age for such activities.

So when they came home on the first day with “camp t-shirts” that were, well typical boring camp t-shirts, we decided to give them a little personality and out came the rhinestones and glue.

Princess and Madame Butterfly helped with the design, carefully placing the tiny stones here and there, following the type and logo that was already a part of the very simple shirt. I helped with the glue, and in about 30 minutes were were officially blinged out! What a difference a little sparkle makes.

The next day we arrived at camp very excited to show all our new friends our personalized standard issue t-shirts. Of course, they were a big hit and my little ones, who normally are pretty “anti-conforming,” happily and willingly wore their sparkly shirt to summer camp each day. Truly the mark of a successful fashion suggestion, which rarely goes over well with my little divas. They like to do their own thing, to day the least.

Camp week came and went, so sad to see it go. On the last day we adorned ourselves once again with our sparkly t-shirts and headed out. What an amazing surprise and full-out thrill it was when we pulled up to camp, got out of the car and were greeted by dozens of summer camp counselors who had ALL dazzled up their camp counselor shirts just like ours! To say we felt pretty flattered is an understatement. Honored by their effort is more accurate. All the female counselors had covered the type of their camp t-shirts just like ours and they looked amazing, more importantly those lovely girls all felt pretty, and isn’t that fabulous!

So as you go through camp t-shirts, boring school shirts or any t-shirt for that matter, take the time and give show your shirts some love. All it takes is a little washable fabric glue, a hand full or sparkly stones and a few minutes of your time. Enjoy and happy blinging!

Stones and glue available at your local craft store. Allow at least 24 hours drying time, and at least 72 hours before washing. Hang to dry, do not machine dry, or the stones are likely to come off.
