Blueberry Sparkler – A Spritzer Cocktail

The Perfect Blueberry Cocktail for 4th of July

Not only is it Independence Day but July is also National Blueberry Month! To celebrate I am making this refreshing blueberry cocktail. It is easy to make and perfect for hot summer days.

Blueberry Sparkler
(Makes one drink)

1 3/4 ounces vodka
1/4 cup blueberries (about 18)
1 1/2 ounces blueberry juice
1 tablespoon simple syrup
1 teaspoon lemon juice
ginger ale

lemon slice
a few more blueberries

Measure out the vodka, blueberries, blueberry juice, simple syrup and lemon juice into a blender. Add a small scoop of ice. Blend until the blueberries are completely crushed.

Pour into a glass over ice. I personally like the blueberry pulp but if you prefer a smoother texture, strain the blueberry mixture through a fine sieve.

Top it off with ginger ale, stir and garnish with a lemon slice and a few blueberries.

I love the subtle sweetness of this drink but if you want it a little sweeter, substitute Sprite for the ginger ale or add more simple syrup.
