Super Snacks for the Super Bowl
Looking for snack ideas for the big game?
It’s that time of year. Time to load up on those favorite snacks. Oh, and watch the game. As you may know, our family tends to talk more about the commercials than the actual game itself (unless the Steelers are on the field…). What makes the commercials (and the game) even better is what’s on our table.
This year, we are exploring some favorites, as well as seeking new recipes. We wanted to share recipe reminders and provide links to some new recipes that have caught our attention. They might just make it on our super bowl table this weekend.
Looking for Low Calorie? Check out Julia’s Pretty Awesome Super Bowl Snack List. In this post, she presents some favorites from around the net that our Live Pretty family has enjoyed. I personally favor sloppy joes. Always.
In with the “old” - We’ve tried. We’ve tried again. And again. Gotta love these Live Pretty favs. I posted these Game Day Appetizers for the last game, and can I just say, they will never go away. The Super Rice Bowl is a must have…well, okay, so is the Baked Brie…(wow, I really need to reshoot this brie post….I think I did it with my iPhone).
Ready to impress - Mexican Cheesecake. It’s not dessert. We use this appetizer recipe for many occasions. From the big game to Cinco de Mayo to the holidays, this appetizer is a main stay. Of course, you gonna need some guac. We’ve made that, too. Check out some Pretty Great Guacamole.
For the little ones – While our little ones may not eat fancy cheesecake, or crab dip, they love this Princess Popcorn. It’s a treat of a snack for our little gamers. For dessert, include the kids with this Oreo Ice Cream Cake.
Big Game Cocktails – If your Budweiser needs to be kicked up a notch, check out some willing party cocktails. While it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, this Classic Chocolate Martini deserves a early release this year for the big game. This Cinnamon Grapefruit Martini is awesome. I think it’s my favorite from Katherine’s Cocktails. Okay, just one more worth mentioning. I guess because it’s most recent from Christmas, the Cranberry Mojito is still on my mind. Katherine rocked this one!
Sweet Endings – Desserts. Desserts. Desserts. Lemon Bars at their best. Knowing it’s one of my all-time favorites, Beth made Lemon Shortbread Cookie Bars - and, I must say, they were incredible. If you’re looking to feed many, simply, this White Texas Sheet Cake is it. Julia presents this special occasion dessert perfect for game day. In honor of the Steelers a few years back, Katherine and Julia created Guinness Cupcakes to celebrate the Iron City. And, I thought, why not bring ‘em back to the table. Maybe it’s just another excuse to use Guinness in a recipe…
From around the web -
- I’m gonna go there – Forks Over Knives…I’m all about comfort food – and healthy options. I’m looking into these Super Bowl recipes from Forks Over Knives – looking pretty good. The Southwestern Mac and “Cheese” looks especially intriguing.
- Our friends at Katie’s Cucina caught my eye with Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Mushrooms. WHAT? Mouth is watering as I type. This, I hope to try.
- In a Little Kitchen not too far away, our friend Julie creates Caprese Puff Pastry Bites. Beautiful and delish. Thanks, Julie, for letting us in your little kitchen and all that comes from it.
- Fellow Blogger, Christine Pittman from CookTheStory presents Healthy Tips for the Super Bowl. Here she shares some of her web favs from our dedicated food blog community. Of course, there’s even something for the kids. Loving the options for this game.
Okay, I could go on. And on. But, this should provide everything you need for this Sunday’s game. Enjoy the game – and the food.
