12 Treats of Christmas: Reindeer Poop

A Holiday Treat with a Special Twist

For the fourth of our 12 Treats of Christmas, I could’ve given them some holiday-esque chocolatey, pepperminty name, but that’s over-done. So, for this very simple treat, I thought I’d call it as I see it. It will be the talk of the party as you pass the Reindeer Poop. But know this, it IS good, chocolatey peppermint goodness. Just happens to look like reindeer poop rolled in candy cane snow.

Reindeer Poop

What you’ll need – ingredients:
1 Box brownie mix. Baked according to box directions*
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract  – *add to brownie mixture before baking
Approx 20-30 miniature candy canes

Here’s how it’s done (Directions):

Simple ingredients – a box of your favorite brownie mix, mini candy canes and peppermint extract.

Place mini candy canes in a heavy duty storage bag. Crush with rolling pin or meat tenderizer.

Place crushed candy canes in a bowl.

Bake the brownie mix according to directions – with added 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract. From prepared brownie dish, scoop out tablespoon portions and roll into balls.

Roll brownie balls in crushed candy canes. Roll aggressively (but not to break the brownie formation) to ensure candy sticks to brownies.

Place candied brownie balls on parchment lined tray.

As if the reindeer left it lying in candy cane snow….

While the name not so attractive, these are indeed a holiday treat. Very simply to make, fun to talk about and even better to eat.

Enjoy.
