Thanksgiving Cocktail: Cinnamon Grapefruit Martini
The perfect martini for Thanksgiving.
This is my signature cocktail and has been so for a few years now! Others have come close, but this one remains my favorite.
Fresh Grapefruit is plentiful this time of year in Floridaand the flavor combination of grapefruit, cranberry and cinnamon is truly perfect for the season.
Other than the cranberry juice and vodka, these ingredients may not be staples in your bar fridge but, after trying this drink, I am confident that they soon will be. I prefer Ruby Red Vodka because it adds an extra kick of flavor, but you can always use regular vodka. The mango flavor of the secret ingredient, Mango Syrup, is unexpected but adds just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the other flavors.
It is simple to make and, every time I do, my guests end up leaving with the recipe and sometimes even ordering a case of the syrup! Yes, a case.
Cinnamon Grapefruit Martini
(make two martinis)
6 oz. Absolut Ruby Red Vodka
3 oz. Cranberry Juice (100% Juice not Cranberry cocktail)
2 oz. Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
1 oz. Monin Mango Syrup (order online or call your local coffee and tea shops to see if they sell it)
Garnish with cinnamon sugar and/or cinnamon stick
If you’d like to rim the glass in cinnamon sugar, first run a lime wedge along the edge of the glass. Then roll edge in a shallow bowl of cinnamon sugar.
To make the martini, measure out all ingredients and pour over ice into a cocktail shaker.
Shake and pour into martini glasses.
Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over drink or, for a special occasion, spruce the drink up with a cinnamon stick to add a touch of elegance. It acts both as a flavor infuser and a stir stick. I’ve found that the cinnamon stick also works great as a straw, but doing so might reduce the elegance factor a bit!
4″ cinnamon sticks usually sit better in martini glasses than the 3″ variety found at your local grocer. I found mine at Penseys Spices.
This crowd pleaser is a perfect drink for a holiday get together with family and friends. Give thanks and enjoy!
