A Florida Fall – At Last

A Florida Fall – Finally

In Florida we eagerly await the first fall breezes. And by eagerly, I mean desperately. Summer heat in Florida, is well, really hot.. School starts, and it is still really hot. Sometimes, even Halloween rolls around, and it’s still freakishly hot. But when Fall finally makes it’s way to our Southern Sub Tropical climate we are very, very happy people.

This weekend, we got our first taste, and what a glorious and welcome taste it was. Highs in the low 80’s lows in the mid 60s. I know for many of you this may sound silly, but this is a huge break in the somewhat intolerable temperatures that we endure in the later Summer months. Now we embark on what is truly a pretty lovely and long season in Florida. Everyone is back outside, and loving it. We may even pull out a lawn chair and chat with our neighbors, instead of hibernating indoors or living in our swimming pools.

Yes, Fall is different in Florida. No changing leaves, except for the ones on my decorative wreath on our front door. No prepping our lawn for the winter months to come, except by actually spending some time out playing in them. None of the typically “Fall” things, but we are as thrilled to see Fall as most Northers are to see the first buds of Spring. It means relief is finally on the way and that Hurricane season is coming to a close.

In Florida Fall marks the beginning of the most glorious 8 months of the year that we see. Our Fall is fantastic. Our winter is lovely. Our Spring is fabulous. So, if you can stand the Summer, which is pretty darn dreadful, the other 8 months of our year are amazing! Thank goodness it is finally Fall.
