Martinis on the Road: White Linen Recipe

Taking Our Favorite Drinks on Vacation

In my packing and preparing for our summer trip, we also considered what would be on the menu for the week at the beach.  I, of course, being the Queen of Cocktails, was in charge of the drink menu. This included wine and beer but also few of my favorite martinis.

I didn’t want to have to buy every ingredient once I got there, especially those used sparingly, so I packed my own in smaller containers. Ingredients like triple sec, simple syrup and sweet & sour mix, I poured into empty water bottles.

Instead of packing a martini shaker, I used a lightweight plastic smoothie shaker.

One of the drinks of choice is my White Linen martini. Its light and refreshing and perfect for hot summer days. The family loves it, and had several.  Enjoy!

White Linen Martini

(Makes 1 Martini)

1 ½ oz.  Hendrick’s Gin
½ oz.  St. Germain Elderflower liqueur
½ oz.  White Cranberry juice*
½ oz.  Simple Syrup
Splash of Sweet & Sour Mix
Cucumber slices for garnish

Combine all liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker over ice and then pour into your martini glass. Or try over ice with sparkling water or club soda. Garnish with a cucumber slice.

*I love White Cranberry Juice in cocktails! It’s milder and somewhat sweeter than traditional Cranberry Juice. Try substituting it in any of your favorite cocktails that call for Cranberry Juice. If you have difficulty finding it, try requesting it from your local grocery store.
