Summer Journal: Food Truck Phenom

Yes, there’s a food truck craze – and our summer vacation was not immune.  And, that’s okay.

You see, this family of foodies doesn’t mind trying new things.  And, one evening during our summer vacation in Seaside, we experienced what we’ve been seeing on Food Network all year.  Food Trucks with gourmet offerings to please any palate. I dig the juxtaposition of gourmet-type food out of a truck. Something about it….

The Airstreams line the beach street of Seaside each evening serving hungry vacationers from all over.  This evening we were about to enjoy a summer play on the lawn and needed food.  Naturally, we split up to find the truck(s) that were answering to our individual tastes.   Then, meet back to enjoy the play and fresh beach air.  Here’s a snapshot of the selection:

Barefoot BBQ” offered mouthwatering bbq and huge Texas toast.  I headed straight for that truck!

Meltdown” offered not only a reminder of what our tired children did after the concert, but also gourmet sandwiches with brie, bacon, goat cheese, arugula and prosciutto.  Kudos!

Wild Bills” offered all-natural type hot dogs for those counting calories….

Frost Bites” was a family favorite for the after dinner treat.

Overall, we truly enjoyed this once-unique dining experience.  That experience, coupled with a great evening outdoors made for a wonderful Summer Journal entry.
