Do as I Do. And, as I say.
Turning Obligations into Inspirations.
I truly believe “If You Want a Passionate Child Then Live a Passionate Life.” I heard that quote from Kim McManus of the Erwin McManus duo. And it stuck. The husband and wife team have inspired me with the popular Wide Awake book and supporting lectures.
What does it mean? We know. Lead by example. But, easier said than done.
We go to church. We say ‘thank you’ and ‘please.’ That’s important. But our kids are smart. They see you. They see beyond. You must mean what you do.
This comes through in our work. Do you HAVE to go work, or do you GET to go to work? Is it an honor? Or, an obligation?
Yes, we have obligations. Most of us must work. But how wonderful to shift those obligations to inspirations. I’m working on it. While challenging at times, I speak of work with the words of what I got to do today. In honor of my God-given talents. It seems to pique my children’s interest as if it is a story. What did Daddy do today? What was his adventure?
But keep in mind it has to come from a place of truth. So, it means we must find what we’re meant to do. What we’ve been created to do. Find the best in your everyday and your kids will pick up on it. And, you’ll benefit as well.
Live as you. And, you will live.

Happy work-smart Wednesday.
