What’s on your plate, or not, in 2011?

Everyone’s doing it – making resolutions.  While the Live Pretty team will make personal, and professional resolutions for 2011, we realize it’s a journey.  A journey made of steps – taken one at a time.

Resolution: A healthier you?  What’s your route to get there?  I will keep a closer eye on what belongs on, and off, my dinner plate.  To begin with what will make more appearances on my plate is color – added by fruits and veges.  At least just one per meal.  Fewer appearances will be made by highly processed foods.

2011 will not be a year of sacrifices, just awareness.  Plus, it will allow me to explore other food options – different fruits and veges, spices, etc.

What are you committing to being on, or off, your plate?

We could all do some healthy changes even if you think you are being good. I plan to not eat out as often. It is not good for you….

I was actually pleasantly surprised to learn of my options while dining out. For example, while portions may be unnecessarily sized, you can split a plate, or devote 1/2 to your lunch the next day. Also, think about the ingredients – ask the server to bring a steamed plate of broccoli if you know it’s used in a dish. Keep an eye on your high fat, high calorie foods while you’re out, and you’ll be fine. Enjoy!
